Preventing Type 2 Diabetes in Pre-Diabetes Stage

Preventing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetes stage is the wisest move as pre-diabetes stage is not diabetes proper. It is an alert stage that needs immediate action.

As it is always advised to prevent diabetes before it ever happens. Preventing type 2 diabetes in a pre-diabetes stage should be in its utmost level. That is, when time comes that blood sugar is higher than normal, it is an ultimate warning sign because next to pre-diabetes stage is diabetes itself.

First of all, knowing that you are already in the pre-diabetes stage earlier is good enough, when you can make a move to prevent type 2 diabetes and your chance is 60 percent. This includes much adjustments in diet, physical activities and losing weight. These things can bring blood glucose back to normal.

Food choices

Food selection is critical in pre-diabetes stage. There is a meal plan called pre-diabetic diet. The meal’s goal is to take food that lead to normal and healthy blood glucose level and that is the way to preventing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetes stage. Most recommended are avoiding junk foods, moderate rice intake, taking fresh beans, more fruits and vegetables and enough portions of non-vegetables like lean cuts of pork, beef, chicken, fish and turkey.

Physical activity

Exercise is the best physical activity to make blood glucose stay normal. By using the sugar in the blood stream as fuel and likewise make insulin become more efficient at saving glucose as glycogen in livers and muscles. When we push or lift weights, our body will mainly use the fuels that are stored as muscle glucose. An effective way to preventing type 2 diabetes especially in pre-diabetes stage is to empty muscle stores regularly and increase muscles. This is a perfect combinations since adding muscle provides more areas for glucose storage. This greatly improves the body’s processing of sugar, a very critical way of preventing and managing type 2 diabetes.

Meanwhile, aerobics exercise burns fats and glucose and loses fats. Strength training helps manages weight by muscle building and energy expending.

Losing weight

Physical activity especially exercise can help lose weight. Reducing wealth is particularly very important in making pre-diabetes to a full-blown type 2 diabetes. If you are overweight, start with a good weight loss program as soon as pre-diabetes occurs, or better, even before it. 5 to 10 percent weight loss is already a great help to prevent type 2 diabetes from happening, especially in the critical pre-diabetes stage.

Food choices, physical activity and losing weight – three very critical issues to face in the pre-diabetic stage. At least you still have the chance to prevent type 2 diabetes.
