Fats for Diabetics

Fats in dairy fat has been found to have an good role in human health, and in warding off may help diabetics, as scientists narrowed it; though further studies are still needed to back-up those findings.

People with fatty acid that are in high in levels can be good for diabetics as they lower their risk for diabetes, as researchers in the Annals of Internal Medicine found. The fatty acid, a part of fat molecules, is mostly found in some meats and dairy products. It is notable though that the subjects of the study had high good cholesterol levels, low body fat and low triglyceride levels; and these are good signs of a better cardiovascular condition.

Such findings may still need further studies, but it is interesting, as it can give hope to reduce the diabetes epidemic worldwide. People should however be careful of taking fats that leads to weight gains, more calories and health problems. A study already proven in the past, and many people already know this, that food high in saturated fats such as dairy products, often lead to heart and produce diabetics.

Now, let’s do some reckoning:

Unsaturated Fats – good

Good fats are what we know of unsaturated fats since they can improve the levels of blood cholesterol, make heart rhythms stable, ease out inflammation and give more benefits to the body. They are found in nuts, vegetable oils, plants and seeds.

Saturated Fats – bad

Saturated fats can give bad effects to the heart, so they are bad fats. Furthermore, our body do make saturated fats of its own, that is why we do not need to take it. However, saturated fats are found in many foods that we eat; and this includes vegetable oils.

Trans Fats – very bad

Trans fats are those that people, especially diabetics should avoid. These are those that come from heated vegetable oils through hydrogenation and with hydrogen gas are very bad fats. They are heated because by doing so, they become stable and do not spoil immediately. Trans fats are worse than saturated fats because they lower good HDL and increase bad LDL. Furthermore, they trigger immune system over-activity and encourage inflammation. The former activity is said to lead to stroke, heart diseases, diabetes and some chronic conditions.

There are lots of fats around, and they are important in life. They are good sources of energy, great storage to save energy; fats are important cell membrane component which control what goes inside and out of cells. Cholesterol is being used by the body as the starter to produce testosterone, estrogen, vitamin D and other essential compounds. Fats are molecules that affects the way muscles respond to the signal of insulin to open so sugar can come in. Fats can also inspire or discourage inflammation.

We should have enough know-how of the different types of fats and be disciplined enough to know which are good and which are bad. Avoid the bad and take the good.
