If you happen to love food, then it is not good to go on dieting. That is one major downside. One of the biggest pitfalls when it comes to dieting is the difficulty of sticking with it. Restrictions can create longing and some diet ingredients are difficult to obtain. When dieting requires a lot of sacrifice and difficulties, then it is hard to stick to it.

Hearing the word “dieting” can make us feel guilty sometimes. Many of us want to achieve the ideal weight and if we still do not have it, we wish to loss the extra and unwanted body weight. Many are stuck to various weight-loss diets that either worked or just do not produce the expected weight loss, and that is quite a downside already. There are a lot of diet or weight-loss products that promise effective results but still they make us go to weight regain again, which is common after weight loss anyway. Weight regain even occurs to diets which are nutritionally balanced.

If you eat little, your body will think that you are starving, so it slows down metabolism in order to protect itself. Slow metabolism can make you fat instead. Dieting can lead to unhealthiness, bad relationship with food and worse, malnutrition. In some cases, dieting can even cause death. Quick diets promise fast weight loss, but it only eliminates less. Diets that only allow 500 calories a day will rid you of energy – an adverse downside. Diets offered by magazines that make use of sugar substitutes do not cure an eating lifestyle that is already unhealthy.
Lifestyle and behavioral changes
Long-term lifestyle and behavioral changes are keys to keeping an ideal weight. Many have lose weight for a short period of time only, and regain weight since they are not able to incorporate the lifestyle into their daily lives. Seemingly small accomplishments can be inspiring – losing and maintaining weight, maintaining exercise, healthier eating and positive lifestyle.
