There are some studies that coconut oil can help prevent and cure diabetes. How true is this claim, let’s read further.
There have been observations that taking coconut oil protects people from diabetes. Known to be one of the ancient super foods, it is part of the healthiest culture offered by planet Earth. Generally, people who are using high amounts of coconut oil are said to have never suffered from diabetes.
It has been known that the people in Nauru, an island in the South Pacific used to have coconuts, yams and bananas in their diet; and diabetes was never known. As their diet progressed, they started to have sugar, flour and vegetable oils. Diabetes then started to appear. World Health Organization (WHO) reported that about 50% of the population in Nauru who are aged 30 to 64 have diabetes.
Vegetable oil compared to coconut oil
Coconut oil can be beneficial for diabetes. Most vegetable oils like sunflower, olive and safflower have molecular differences. The latter have their molecules made up of fatty acids that are long chain. The molecules of virgin coconut oils are made up of medium fatty acid chains. The body uses these medium chain fatty acids immediately as an energy source, while long chain fats stay as cholesterols in the blood vessels as or in thighs, around the waists and buttocks.
A study in 1920 by Dr. S. Sweeney found that high diet in vegetable oil can cause reversible diabetes just within 2 days. A study in 1998 showed that diabetes can be cured by excluding polyunsaturated fat in the diet. This has been published in Metabolism.
Coconut oil, diabetes and regular oils
It has been found that long chain fats can make diabetes worse. Especially when heated, they decrease the ability of the body’s cells to absorb glucose or bind with insulin. They can also cause cell damage, affecting their ability to function badly.
The smaller chain molecules in coconut oil give the body cells with the important fatty acids without glucose and without restraining insulin, thereby preventing insulin resistance. Virgin coconut oil can give the body energy boost, without adversely affecting blood glucose levels.
Organic coconut oil, even when heated, stimulates metabolism to help the burning of fats . By using coconut oil, it can help remedy diabetes. Together with avoiding sugar and exercise, coconut oil can also be a healthy part of your life.
